About

We help you turn a business idea into a real brand.

DN Detector is a curated marketplace for brandable domain names. We help founders shortlist short, memorable .app, .com and .pro names, understand the market through guides and domain news, and finish checkout on partner marketplaces — never on this site.

Founder workspace with a curated domain shortlist

Find the name you can own

Browse curated inventory with clear asking prices, brand context and partner checkout links. Shortlist before the name is gone.

Understand the market

Read naming guides and dated domain news so you choose with evidence — not hype. Pricing method is published and transparent.

If the perfect name isn't listed

Brokers and partner companies can source or negotiate names that are not in the catalog, with a clear process through to transfer.

How DN Detector works

From shortlist to partner checkout

Three steps. No on-site payment. You finish on the marketplace linked to the listing.

  1. Discover & compare

Filter by category, extension or price. Each card shows brand context so you can shortlist without a spreadsheet.

  2. Evaluate with context

Open a listing for positioning notes, brand score and asking price. Read how we price domains when you want the method behind the number.

  3. Buy on a partner

Choose Buy or Make offer. Transfer completes on Spaceship, Atom, Dynadot, Afternic or Sav — DN Detector does not process the payment.

Marketplace Partners

We list domains across partner marketplaces. Checkout completes on the partner shown on each listing.

Editorial standards

Everything published under DN Detector Insights is held to the same four rules, whether it is a naming guide, a market report or a listing description. They exist so you can tell the difference between our opinion and a verifiable fact.

Evidence before assertion

Sale prices, registry rules and policy changes are checked against the primary source — NameBio, DNJournal, registrar and registry documentation, or the court and UDRP record — before we write about them. Where we cannot verify a figure, we do not publish the figure.

First-hand where possible

Pricing and naming claims are grounded in our own live inventory and valuation method, not recycled marketing copy. When a piece is analysis rather than direct experience, we say so.

Corrections are visible

If a price, date or interpretation was wrong, we correct the article and note what changed rather than quietly editing it. Spotted an error? Tell us.

No hidden commercial influence

We sell domains, so we are careful about the line between reporting and selling. Paid and affiliate links are marked rel="sponsored" and disclosed on the page. A listing's price is its asking price — it is not an appraisal, and we say so wherever a value figure appears.

On authorship: articles are currently published under the DN Detector editorial team rather than an individual byline. That is deliberate — we would rather attribute to a team than invent a persona. When a named author is credited, their role and background are stated on the article itself.

Questions founders ask first

The answers we give most often — naming, pricing, checkout partners, and sourcing names that are not listed.

What is DN Detector?

DN Detector is a premium domain marketplace and domain intelligence platform for founders and startups. It lists curated brandable .app, .com, and .pro names, with naming guides, domain news, and checkout on partner marketplaces — not on this site.

How do I choose a domain name for my startup?

Name the brand first, then the domain. Write ten candidates, cut any that need spelling help, keep the three shortest, then check trademark and social handle availability. Only then choose the extension: .app, .com, .pro, or another extension that fits the brand. Full walkthrough: how to choose a domain.

Should I use .com or .app for my startup?

Use .com when non-technical buyers, partners or investors are the audience — it reduces hesitation. Use .app when the product is an app or AI tool and the extension communicates intent instantly. Many founders list on one and redirect the other. Decision framework: .app vs .com.

How much does a premium domain cost?

Brandable names typically run from roughly $5,000 to $25,000 depending on length, pronounceability and category demand. Shorter names and dictionary words sit higher. Every listing here shows a firm asking price, and comparables are shown on the listing page. See how we price domains.

What makes a domain name brandable?

A brandable name is easy to say once, spell after hearing it, and recall a week later. Short labels of roughly two or three syllables with no hyphens or digits do best, and a familiar word pattern helps the name carry meaning. Extension choice completes the picture because each extension signals a different audience and level of trust.

How do I buy a domain on DN Detector?

Open a listing and choose Buy or Make offer. The purchase is completed on Spaceship, Atom, Dynadot, Afternic, or Sav. DN Detector does not take payment on this site. More on where you buy.

Can you find a name that is not listed?

Yes. Our brokers and partner companies run outreach and negotiation for names that are not in the catalog. Use the sourcing form with the name you want.

What is a brandable domain?

A brandable domain is a short, pronounceable, memorable name that works as a company identity rather than as a description of a keyword. StudyForge.app or AiFolio.app are brandable; cheap-domain-names-online.com is descriptive.

How does escrow protect a domain purchase?

With escrow, the buyer's payment is held by a neutral third party and only released once the domain has transferred. DN Detector does not process payments on-site — checkout completes on Spaceship, Atom, Dynadot, Afternic, or Sav when linked on the listing. Escrow only applies when that partner offers it. See where you buy.

Can't find the perfect name?

Tell us the brand you're building and our brokers and partner companies will source or negotiate the right domain for you — including names that are not listed publicly. You get the best options, a clear price, and a smooth, secure transfer.
